Looking At Christmas Through The Eyes Of A Child
Looking At Christmas Through The Eyes Of A Child
Standing at the bottom of a tall and looming tree
A little child looks upward at the star and thinks of Thee
It reminds him of the story that he heard in church that day
Of the shepherds who were guided by the star that led the way
Led the way to baby Jesus who lay resting in the hay
Who was indeed the “King of Kings” born that Christmas day
Lord if we could only see things through the eyes of a little child
If only we could kneel and pray with hearts so very mild
A child’s eyes hold such hope in them, such wonder and such awe
When was the last time that I looked and saw what this child saw?
The ornaments that sparkle much like the star above
Speak right to a child’s heart and reminds him of your love
But me, I look right past them and I often do not see
The meaning behind Christmas or the legend of the tree
The tree points up towards heaven giving glory to the son
Who left all heaven’s splendor to become this little one
Yes that was you almighty God who came that Christmas day
The one who would grow up to die and take our sins away
And then you gained the victory over death and rose again
So that we could have new life on earth and eternity in heaven
The gifts that lay beneath the tree make the child feel loved
But we grumble as we wrap them thinking of all the hubbub
We think of all they cost us as we shopped and picked each one
But your gift cost you plenty as you gave your only son
A child has expectations and can’t wait for Christmas day
He sings the Christmas Carols as he skips along at play
But our hearts they aren’t so tender and our heads are filled with lists
All the things we must get purchased with the money in our fists
Lord please help us to remember why we celebrate this day
Help us to see things as a child and rejoice along the way
Yes Christmas through the eyes of a child is a very precious thing
I want to be more child like as I welcome Heaven’s King!

What an awesome poem and a great reminder to stop and savor the little things of the season, just like a child. Things may be busy, but they aren't so busy that we can't take time to stop and thank our Creator and spend some time with Him.
Beautiful, Momma Linda, and just what I needed to hear!! I've been so grumpy about buying gifts this year and I feel bad about spending the money instead of donating it, but I think I need to remember not to take for granted what I've been blessed with and I for sure want to make sure my girls have a wonderful holiday! I am going to try my best to see things how my girls do and enjoy every moment!
Linda!! I don't think I ever thanked you for that beautiful comment/poem you sent me before my computer break. It so touched my heart. Brian and I both cried as we read it! God has so blessed you and I am thrilled to 'know' you, and your daughter!
Blessings
This is absolutely wonderful! I am so glad you shared ... children make the season. Have a beautiful eve.

Yes, you're absolutely right - we need to see Jesus in all the hustle and bustle. We need to feel the anticipation... the excitement... the pure joy of it all!
It helps so much to have children in our home enjoying each and every moment. I imagine it's harder to grasp when you don't have those little ones around you. I am thankful for that - and know one day that will end for me to - but I refuse to think about it at this moment. God's grace will cover me then - and while I know it will be here before I know it - I still have quite a few years. PRAISE GOD!!!!
Love you Momma.

Linda...Thank you for visiting girly. I always LOVE to stop in a see what your wonderful inspiring self is up to...
Always come away with a warmth in my spirit and joy upon my face.
Yes...I do love Edmond. It has grown so much over the past 17 years. It's getting crowded and the city just put a stoplight at the end of our street. Seems strange. But...it is a good town with great ideas and focus. Lots of wonderful churches and events, too.
Blessings to you my friend. Your comment today made me smile BIG!
Bless You~

So beautiful! I love looking at things from my children's perspective.
To answer your question about the SA bell ringers. Anyone can volunteer, we went to the office and picked how long we wanted to volunteer and at which location. However, I do believe that when they do not have volunteers to fill the positions they use workers from the Salvation Army missions to fill those vacancies.
Merry Christmas friend!
Blessings,
Amy
Oh Linda I just love reading your inspiring words. How I would love to see Christmas through the eyes of a child again. How easy it is to get caught up with all the hustle going on in our lives. We need to stop and remind ourselves the true meaning of Christmas.
I love your decorating also. Your home looks so pretty. I'm taking it easy lately due to surgery last week but I was able to do some decorating beforehand. So now I'm just sitting back and taking it all in and shopping online this year. I hate being slowed down but in the long run it has given me a chance to enjoy this time a little more than usual. Isn't that sad? I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!
that is precious ... and I completely agree - we must look at Christmas through the faithfilled eyes of a child!:)
This is absolutely wonderful, inspiring & moving. It is such a joy to read your writes/posts ...
Merry Christmas, TTFN ~ Marydon
