Six Word Saturday~~~ Spring Is Just Around The Corner

Spring Is Just Around The Corner

Today is a beautiful day and it reminds me that Spring is just around the corner! It hasn't warmed up a lot, but the sun is shining brightly. My husband went fishing this afternoon...and even though he didn't catch any fish, at least he gave it a try. Then he went to the golf course to hit a few balls and practice putting. At any rate I can tell he is anxious for Spring to arrive...and I know that some of you are feeling the same longings.

I love to see the signs of Spring too. Some of the trees around here have little nubs on their branches where the buds will appear. Someone told me that the crocus have started to poke through at their house. And the hyacinth will follow and then the jolly jonquils. And my favorite flowers when Spring arrives are the tulips. I also love the flowering trees...especially the crab apples, bradford pears, and the redbuds.

Yes, flowers make me feel so happy...and they always make me smile. Speaking of that...the other day my husband went to the store to pick up a few things because they were saying it was going to snow over night. Our cupboards were rather bare and we needed milk and bread and at least a few essentials, so he volunteered to go. When he arrived home he had a surprise for me...a bouquet of flowers! He said he thought I would enjoy them! Wasn't that sweet? I loved that little surprise.

Today for Six Word Saturday I just thought I'd send out this reminder that;
Spring is Just Around The Corner! Now doesn't that brighten your day? It sure brightens mine. ((Smile))

Yesterday Was The Big Concert Day! /Six Word Saturday

(click on the button above and Cate will tell you how to link your Six Words post)

Yesterday Was The Big Concert Day!

I had previously posted that my hubby got us tickets to the George Strait and Reba concert for Valentine's Day...well the concert was last night here in Wichita in our new Intrust Arena. We are not concert people and so we were a little bit nervous about the crowd, and the parking, and finding the location of our seats,...and if the weather was going to allow us to get there etc. But all our worries were in vain...and we did just fine. (Today it is raining ice...so I am thankful that was not the case last night).

We ordered the tickets online and we had no idea how to do that and we were nervous because it was a timed proceedure and the seats sell out quickly...but we managed to aquire two tickets. Little did we know they would be third row from the top in the nosebleed section! It was so steep climbing up that I actually got butterflies in my tummy. Ha! (I don't do well with heights) Thank goodness for the huge screens that showed us who was performing, because they looked one inch tall from where we sat! (:>)

We were soon caught up in the excitement and did enjoy every minute of it though...and we are glad that we got to go. My favorite song that George sang was: I Saw God Today. LeeAnn's: I Hope You Dance. Reba's: The Greatest Man I Never Knew.

When we bought the tickets we didn't even know that LeeAnn Womack was singing too, because it was just billed as George Strait and Reba...so that was an added bonus. All three are such good entertainers. Oh,...and Melissa Peterman from Reba's TV show (And The Singing Bee), made an appearance and she was quite funny. She and Reba make a good little comedy team. They goofed around while Reba sang the show's theme song: I'm A Survivor.

The show started at 7PM and went till about 11:30 and we got home about midnight. Quite a night out for this older couple...and I might add that it was way past my bedtime!

Romance

Here's a little poem I wrote last year that I thought I would share again. I love to feel the Lord's embrace in my life. I pray that you will feel it too this Valentine's Day...and all through your lives.

Romance

I’ve felt the music in my heart
My feet have done the dance
My life’s been taken to extremes
As I have found romance

Nothing has remained the same
Everything is new
The sunlight has a brighter sheen
The grass now glistens with the dew

The air feels fresher as I breathe
The rose has fragrance sweet and rare
My senses now feel sharp and keen
My heart has been made free from care

I once was broken and cast down
My face was so forlorn
My hopes were dashed, my dreams had died
My faith from me was torn

But now my soul sings happy tunes
As down the path I trod
Romance has been a gift to me
And brought me close to God

Who knows me better than the one
That wooed me with his love?
He laid his life down for my sake
And gave me new life through his blood

I first resisted his sweet call
And wrestled with my fears
But he romanced me with his love
And I accepted through my tears

And soon he’ll whisk me far away
To mansions in the sky
I will his bride forever be
And never leave his side

Romance may seem a silly word ….
But I can tell you true
This same romance can change your life
And make you feel brand new!

Tulips

Don't tulips remind you of springtime? They seem such cheerful and happy flowers!
I just love tulips and their vast arrary of colors don't you? I thought I would share this poem with you again just to brighten this winter day...and to remind you that spring is just around the corner my friends.

Tulips
The tulip has great strength as it pokes up from the sod
The strong green leaves surround the bud and acts as a façade

Then as the leaves spread open and the colored heads appear
The beauty of God’s planning often cause my eyes to tear

The jagged edge is lacy as it gently opens wide
And as it does,… you will be blessed …by the beauty found inside

The stamen stands so proudly in the center as on cue
And the colors vary greatly in the star shaped colored hue

Their splendor is a statement, yet in a simple way
They give a casual beauty to a lovely new spring day

I clip each color gently as I picture my display
I gather quite a bounty and they form a big bouquet

They grace my table sweetly as they stand so straight and tall
And then with time they curtsey and they take a humble fall

It’s like they’re bowing over to give their quiet nod
To their talented Creator,…to the Great Almighty God

Each time I see a tulip…. my heart is drawn to Him
So I think I’ll plant more tulips… and let the praise begin!

Your Divine Valentine...and Wednesday's Sharing our Thankfulness

Your Divine Valentine

A Valentine may play a love song for you, but God sings you the sweetest
love song in the universe.

The Lord your God...will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you
with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.

A Valentine may give you flowers, but God sent you the most beautiful rose
of all... Jesus.

I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valley.

A Valentine may take you out to dinner, but God has invited you to the
most amazing feast ever given.

Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!

A Valentine may bring you chocolate, but God provides you with something
even sweeter... His Word.

How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Psalm 119:103

A Valentine may love you for a lifetime, but God loved you before you were

The Wicked Winter Weather Poem...and 6 Word Saturday

Don't Dread The Wicked Winter Weather
These are my six words this Saturday. If you would like to play along and give us your six words that describe your life today, just click on the button above and link up your post on Cate's blog. It's fun!

The Wicked Winter Weather

The wicked winter weather has been with us for awhile
And even though it chills our bones…something about it makes us smile

Is it that the frozen landscape forces us to stay inside?
Where the fireplace is glowing and the family now abides?

Mother makes us hearty dishes and they warm us inside out
Mugs of tea or steaming coffee she pours gently from a spout

Children bundle up for playtime as they build a huge snowman
But their little, frozen, fingers bring them inside to warm again

Leaving puddles with their pile of boots, and mittens, scarves and coats
Mother gives them warming baths and dries their hair and on them dotes

Nothing like a cheerful mother coming up with things to do
When you can’t ride bikes or skateboards, and the choices seem so few

Movie time with bowls of popcorn, lights down low, and candles lit
Families gather on the sofa, little ones on laps they sit

Yet we call it “wicked” winter, weather… and so often we do complain
But the memories we are making…in our hearts they will remain

So even though the wind chill plummets… and the utilities rise sky high
Just remember we'll soon be kissing winter weather a sad good-bye

With the spring comes separation…as we all go separate ways
Keeping busy with activities we can’t do on winter days

Maybe God in His great wisdom knew we’d need those times together
So He planned to give us the gift of freezing, “wicked, winter weather”!!!
