Six Words Saturday/ Hooray!...I got new glasses today!

Hooray!...I got new glasses today!

I finally got new glasses after 4 years...I can't believe I waited that long, but I guess life has been busy since we moved into our new house nearly 4 years ago. At any rate I got two pair, so I got a rectangular shape and an oval shape. One pair is slightly dressier than the other...but I really like both pair. They are from the Vera Bradley collection and both came with a cute little matching hard case.

Well that's my Six Word Saturday...if you want to add your six words just click on the button below and add your post.

Love My Friend Of Thirty Years

This is my sweet friend Toni, and we have been great friends for 30 years. Recently she lost her husband Max. I have blogged about our friend Max and how we will miss him. But today I just want to say what an amazing woman my friend Toni Kay is. She has faced a lot this past year during her husband's battle with Cancer. She was with him every step of the way, cheering him on in his fight for life. Loving him, and caring for him everyday. And now she is facing life without him. I know this will be extremely hard to be without her 43 year companion, who was the love of her life. With God's help, and the love of her family I know this strong woman will be just fine. I know I will be keeping her in my prayers.

I have enjoyed having her here for the last couple of weeks, but tomorrow she will fly back home to Arizona. I am going to miss her so much.

Today we went to a museum and out to lunch with Toni, so we could enjoy our final day with her. This special friendship is so comfortable and so special, I am sure it can go on for at least another 30 years! I thank God for the blessing of friendship, and for my special friend Toni.

It's Thankful Thursday Again!

It's Thankful Thursday again and so I will tell you some things I am thankful for this morning.

I am thankful for this box of tissues...to wipe my runny eyes and runny nose...Allergies! Yikes!

I am thankful for the warmth of this wheat heat around my neck...it helps with my headache.

I am thankful for the extra creamy whipped cream I put in my coffee this morning
...it helps to comfort me since I feel lousy.

I am thankful that I don't have to do anything this morning ...but feel sorry for myself!

I am thankful for a husband who loves me...even when I complain!

And I am thankful for my wonderful Lord who remembers that I am but dust...He who knows my every weakness...yet he loves me and forgives me! His mercies are new every morning!

I know this sounds like I am complaining instead of truly being thankful...but I don't mean to be disrespectful. We are supposed to find things to be thankful for in the midst of our troubles aren't we? (:>)

I am blessed beyond belief...I have so many blessings in my life. And for each of them I am truly thankful.

What are you thankful for today?

Said Good-bye To Our Friend...Again!

Last month we flew to Arizona to comfort our friend Toni who had just lost her husband...our friend Max. We spoke at his Arizona service and joined his friends and family who were grieving his passing.

This week our friends flew here to Kansas with Max's ashes to lay him in his resting place...and we had another memorial here this morning. It was bittersweet. Until now it hadn't really seemed final to me. But at the cemetery today it finally hit me. It is always so hard to know that our loved ones are actually going to be placed in the ground. But on the other hand it was a reminder that when we are believers in Jesus Christ, this life is not all there is. We know that Max is in heaven waiting for us to join him there sometime in the future.

So we said our final good-byes here on earth today...Again...but we look forward to our reunion in heaven.

Thankful Thursday

On this Thankful Thursday I just want to thank God for America. I am glad I am an American!

I am thankful for the flag and what it symbolizes.

I am not into politics, but I am thankful for our leaders.

At least we can still worship openly and I pray it will continue.

What are you thankful for today? Click on the button below and copy the code and paste it to your Thankful Thursday post.

Five Question Friday

Grab a cup of Hot Cider and join in the Five Question Friday Fun! Just click on the button below and add your post!

1. What do you listen to while driving?

2. What is your least favorite thing about Fall?

3. What does your dream house look like, inside and out?

4. Would you ever own a minivan?

5. Do you wash new clothes before wearing them?

1. I listen to Christian radio stations that have both preaching and music. And I listen to a variety of Christian CD's. Sometimes Classical...and sometimes Country music too.

2. My least favorite thing about Fall is how my ALLERGIES act up! Otherwise I love everything about Fall.

3. My dream house is the one I live in, with a few more tweaks! We built it 4 years ago and I wish we would have put more brick and stone on the outside. I also wish we had put more hardwood flooring in, and nicer carpet. And last but not least I would change my master bath by having a bigger shower, and a make up vanity, and a larger walk in closet with more storage. I do love my house though and I am very thankful for it. I still wake up and look around and tell my husband that "I love this house"!!!!

4. Oh yes we have owned several minivans, and we love them! The Dodge Grand Caravan we have now is my favorite, cuz it has stow away seats and they are so handy. There is so much room and it is great to take on trips. I love that it has a DVD player and a 6 CD player. It is great!

5. I do not always wash new clothes before wearing them..., but I know I should. They spray flame guard and other stuff on new clothes...and I am allergic and sensitive to stuff like that.

Today's A Good Day For Birthdays!

Today would have been my Mama's 95th birthday here on earth...however, she has resided in heaven for the last 24 years. I will see her again when I get there...and we will get to spend eternity together with Jesus. (No pictures of mama scanned into this computer)

My son-in-law Kyle has a birthday today, and I love it, because as I celebrate this special guy I also remember my mama. Kyle turns 47 today...but he doesn't look it.

And today the world was blessed by the birth of our great nephew...baby Sawyer! He looks just like his daddy Bryan. I am so happy for them.

Five Question Friday!

Hey, this is a fun blog hop to help us all get to know each other a little better. Why not join in today?

Rules for Five Question Friday: Have fun!! That's most important...but, you'll need to copy and paste the following questions to your blog, answer them, then watch for the linky to appear Friday morning!

1. Did you have a pen pal when you were little (or now)? Where were/are they from?

2. If you could do a different job for one day, what would it be?

3. Do you remember your biggest fear from when you were little?

4. What do you think is a waste of time? Why?

5. What is the oldest item you have in your closet?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Did you have a pen pal when you were little (or now)? Where were/are they from?
I seem to remember having a pen pal through school when I was very young...but it never came to much. But...I loved to write letters to my mom's family in Texas when I was young. Every time she would sit down to write them I would write them too, and when they wrote back there would always be a note for me inside mom's envelope. I think that was the beginning of my love of writing and interfacing with people. Now my writing outlet is my blog...and facebook.
2. If you could do a different job for one day, what would it be?
I would be a buyer/decorator. I love shopping for pretty things and finding just the right objects to place in a room. If money were no object it would be so much fun to start from scratch and create beautiful home decor for clients. (I am an HGTV addict...I watch all the decorating shows!)
3. Do you remember your biggest fear from when you were little?
My mom lost her right arm in a car accident before I was born, and I always had a fear that I could be in an accident and lose my arm. I am still nervous in cars, and have to pray a lot when I am on busy freeways. But God gives me peace as I give my fears to Him.
4. What do you think is a waste of time? Why?
Arguing with people is a complete waste of time. Nobody ever benefits from it. The Bible tells us to speak the truth in love. It also says a soft answer turns away wrath. If you don't add fuel (or wood) to the fire it goes out. So I think those are good things to remember! (:>)
5. What is the oldest item you have in your closet?
I think it would be a purple silk suit that I bought when I worked. It is several sizes too small, and I will never be able to wear it again..but it was so expensive, and I loved it so much, that I can't seem to let it go!
