Our Nephew's Wedding

This week for Wednesday's Walk I thought I would share some pictures from our trip last week to Nebraska for our nephew's wedding. If you would like to join in today, just click on the button below and link up your story with Mr. Linky.

John and I drove our van on our trip to Nebraska last Thursday, to attend our nephew's wedding. Our daughter Lisa and her husband Brad, (who was the pastor officiating at the wedding), and their daughter Bailey followed us in their car.

I snapped some pictures along the way and said to my husband,... "when we drive this route you can sure tell we live in Kansas"! Lots of farmland and flat land, cows, horses, silos, wheat fields, and corn fields, etc. It is kind of nice to just get out of town, away from the hustle and bustle of life and just look out at the green fields and blue skies and clouds.

We stopped in a little town called Cawker City and took some pictures of "The World's Largest Ball Of Twine!" Can you believe that? ((smile)) It is 40 feet around and weighs over 17,000 pounds. Who would ever think of making the world's largest ball of twine??? Crazy! ((smile))

The wedding was nice and my son-in-law did a good job officiating, but I think it was the shortest wedding I have ever attended. It only took 15 minutes! The bride and groom wanted it that way. The dinner, reception, and party however lasted the rest of the night.

It was nice to spend time with family and friends, and a good time was had by all.
But I found myself wondering how this little curly haired nephew of ours grew up so fast? There he was standing next to his little dark haired beauty with stars in his eyes and love in his heart, pledging to love and to cherish from this day forward as long as they both shall live.

I do hope that Simon and Glynna will live happily ever after! And that God will bring many blessings into their life together.

It doesn't seem that long ago when John and I had a reception at that very same Country Club, (the old building though), as we started our life together.

And yet it is possible that before too many more years pass by, we will start attending some of our GRANDCHILDREN'S weddings! Life indeed flies swiftly by. Every day truly needs to be treasured.

Me taking pictures and being silly!

Dear Linda,
You are so pretty in your classy sunglasses. You have a cute nose...bet others have told you that.
This post is wonderful!
The Kansas scenery is some of my favorite. Some have said that you can see for miles, kind of like seeing out to sea. There's a beauty to this.

Congrats to the newly weds. May they be very happy. This memory in the making was beautiful.

So glad I dropped by to see and read your post.
Blessings,
~D~

I am ever so glad I found your blog. I enjoy reading every minute of it. Every word.

Thanks for allowing me to copy and paste that poem from the prior post, today I shared it with Julie, my co worker, when she was having a bad day. It made us both smile in a day where all kinds of things were happening around us.

Glad you got to go to the wedding and enjoy it with family and friends. Congrads to the newly weds and lots of years together.

Have a great day,
Blessings.

Weddings are fun! I've never seen someone wear a short wedding dress like that! Interesting!

I wonder who ever came up w/ the idea to make that ball of twine. Maybe someone w/ a little too much time on their hands? lol

Linda...I'm glad you had a great time on your trip to the wedding. That was neat to see the picture of that huge ball of twine!!! I was almost getting teary eyed too when I read how you mention that you can't believe how fast the time has flown by. My little girl is turning four tomorrow and I sometimes wonder where I've been all this time.

Thanks for sharing the pics of the wedding. I haven't been to a wedding in forever just looking at your pictures made me feel like I was right there too:)

Love ya lots,
Veronica

Thanks for sharing! Such a beautiful bride, & all the family look so happy.

The wedding we attended Saturday was very short too. I think it was 12 or 15 minutes total (as opposed to our high mass wedding with communion that lasted over an hour). And the entire thing was very short. From the beginning of the wedding until we sent the bride & groom on their was was only 3 hours. I was surprised.

Glad you had a good time. We got lots of country pics, too, but of a different type. I forgot Kansas & Nebraska are so flat!!! :)

It looks like you all had a great time. It was so nice of Lisa and fam to go - and for Brad to do the service.

I enjoyed your car pics. You and Dad are so cute. :)

I love ya.

Such a beautiful bride. I love weddings. And isn't it amazing how fast those little ones grow to be big ones? I remember as a child thinking time moved so slow. The older you get the faster it moves.

It looks like a beautiful wedding! :) I like weddings too. I love all of the pictures of you guys. Everyone looks so great all dressed up. :) Tell Bailey that she looks awesome in her dress for me!

I'm painting my dresser (not the big white one...a different one that's smaller) and a little rectangular table black. I need to work hard this weekend at finishing everything up! :) Hopefully I'll get to hang out with you and Grandpa soon even though I spent all of my birthday money on paint! Heehee. Your pool is open I presume, so maybe we could go swimming. I also have a couple of gift certificates that I haven't spent yet. :) Maybe we can work something out in the next couple of weeks. I miss you guys!

Yes, I do have hardwood floors underneath everything, and that would be so beautiful! But there's this black tar-like stuff scraped all over the top of it. :( It would be really really hard to get off and I'm not even sure we could get it off. We might consider doing that if we ever have the time and motivation to figure it out. :)

Love you!
