The Blessings Of Motherhood

I have been blessed by God in my life,… in so many wonderful ways
He made me His daughter,… and gave me three girls,… I found it a privilege to raise

I shall never cease thanking Him for these great gifts,… and I’m giving Him all the praise due.
And this is a story I’m eager to share, and I pray it’s a blessing to you

What I like best about motherhood?…well let me see,… it’s a question that’s complex and deep
But one of the joys when my girls were so small… was watching these precious ones sleep

And snuggling them close to my heart in a hug was a pleasure so warm and so real
Just knowing that God gave these children to me is a wonderful,… miracle deal!

Oh yes, I did have to “give them away”, when they married and moved from my home
But I keep them close always inside of my heart, and there they can never far roam

The love that I have for them just multiplied, when they, their own children bore
And now I find blessings all over the place when their families knock on my door

It’s tiring yes, when the living room’s full and the chatter is at a full hum
But the joy that it brings when the family sings, makes my heartstrings gently strum

The time passes quickly and comes to an end and they leave one- by- one through the door
But the love it remains, and the memories I gain, gather up and I keep them in store

I treasure the calls and the sweet little voices I hear on the end of the phone
It reminds me of those,… I heard everyday,… when my girls where still at home

“I love you mommy,…can I have a drink?,…. Or,…can I go out and play?”
Voices I loved hearing,… duties I loved doing,… and wish I could still do today!

You may think you want freedom, and time for yourself,…. but I would think again
For soon enough,… they leave the nest,… and your time seems… never to end!

Some days you just wish that they could drop by,… and visit with you for a bit
But their time it is filled with their motherhood skills, and they don’t find much time just to sit

But this is ok, and it is the way ,that the Master has rendered His plan
My daughters grew up and in so many ways I accept what He’s dealt from His hand

But I count it a blessing,… to have been given these gifts… from my dear loving Savior above
So I would tell you today,…treasure them while you may,…and enjoy them and give all your love (:>) By Linda Hogeland

HI Linda,
thank you so much for your contribution to the party. I noticed the linking is funny here. I don't understand this stuff all that well. I see yesterday's worked. I am going to turn the keyboard over to my son to tell you how to fix it. Okay?? Thank you

I think you cut and paste the html for the button in the actual 'html' tab of a new post. You can just delete the button, grab the html for it again and just paste it into the post making sure you are in the COMPOSE tab. Does that make sense?
You can email privately if you want. Sorry to trouble you.

Love this poem, Linda. Motherhood is such a blessing and such a gift to be cherished. Thank you for your words in your comment today. My mother's final weeks were much like your mother-in-law's. I could lay beside her in her bed, stroke her hair, sing hymns, and read scripture and pray. I could tell her I loved her and kiss her cheek. We were never affectionate like that before she grew so ill...so it was a gift to have that time...even though her suffering was so great. (And parts of that time were unspeakably horrible. I didn't sleep more than a couple hours here and there during those weeks. And...for several more weeks following her death.) I will always miss her...until we meet again in heaven's glory. And for now...the beauty of His sufficient grace fills my life...and carries me through my days. God is good! Thank you for sharing your heart on this with me.

With Love,
Kelly

Hi Linda, It's so lovely to be able to meet you and to visit your blog. I noticed your poem. Do you by any chance belong to www.faithwriters.com (an online Christian writing community)? If not, you might be interested in meeting other Christian writers, poets, etc there. Just a thought. I hope you don't mind me mentioning it. Blessings, Jules

Once again, a beautiful poem! Sometimes when you're a Mom, you just can't wait for the day when you get a break, so Thank you for reminding me that I need to make sure and treasure every moment, because one day I will miss this precious time in my life. It's already passing by way too quickly!

My gosh this is beautiful! I often remind myself that my little girl will not be little for long. I try so hard to cherish moments but yet they still seem to pass by so fast.

Please excuse me while I go grab my tissue!

Thanks for sharing that poem :) I needed to read that peom today of all days! It was beautiful! It's hard sometimes in daily life to cherish those things and think ahead like that. This makes me want to go watch my kids sleep :)

Thank you for stopping by my blog & for your encouragement. You have a real gift with writing poetry. Thank you for sharing! This one is so appropriate - though I don't think I will ever have an empty home! (I have 10 children still ALL at home from age 22 down to 2). But it's a reminder of what to treasure when I grow weary and even sometimes wish I had an empty home for a moment! :)

Hi Linda,

I'm late on WWalk today because of Frank's birthday! Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your very kind comments!

I love your poem about motherhood. It brought tears to my eyes and reminded me of what truly is important while our children are young. In fact, my daughter just came down to tell me she woke up too warm, and then gave me the biggest hug. So I'm off to tuck her in (again) and get some rest myself. See you next week, my friend!

Thank you so much for your kind comment on my blog.

Your poem has me teary eyed. I have been so weary lately with the busyness of life. While I love being a mother and would trade it for nothing in the world, some days I just get so very tired. There is so much to do and so much I WANT to do that it seems impossible to do everything. Reading your post reminded me that there will be many, many quiet years ahead of me and I should treasure this busy season in my life.

Thank you for giving me a much needed breath of fresh air in my life!

Thank you for such a sweet post. I love having my girls home and actually already dread the time they aren't home anymore. (They're ages 14 - 6.) I love seeing them grow up and look forward to what God has for their lives but, selfishly, don't look forward to the time when the house is not so full. Your post is so very encouraging to me. Thank you.
Thank you also for your sweet, meaningful comment on my blog.
I will certainly be visiting you (through your blog) again.
Thank you for being a Titus 2 woman, willing and wanting to help encourage us.
In His love,
Tina
